I would like to use the Social Text Plugin on my WordPress.com site. Can I do that somehow?

I bought a domain on WordPress.com without realizing that I can’t use the one Plugin I am very interested in using: Social Text. I am too late for a refund, and am not yet ready to move my blog to WordPress.org (though I may have to if I can’t use Social Text). I see that popular Plugins might be added at some point, and if this is the only way I can hope to use Social Text on WordPress.com, I wonder if you can give me a sense of whether this will be possible at some point soon.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Stuart,

I’m sorry, but that would not be possible on WordPress.com as no plugins are allowed due to security concerns. The plugins/widgets that we allow can be found here:

    Widgets

If this plugin is a necessity for you, you will need to move to WordPress.org. However, as for the domain itself, you can keep it registered with us and just point the nameservers to your new host with these steps:

    Change a Domain’s Name Servers

You’ll need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

Just note that this means your domain is still registered through us and just hosting elsewhere. So you would need to keep the registration renewed yearly with us in addition to your new host. After 60 days from the date of registration you can transfer out your domain elsewhere (there is a lock placed on newly registered domains as per ICANN rules). When that time comes, the guide below explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar, including how to access the authorization (EPP) code:

Transfer a Domain to Another Registrar

Let me know if you have any questions with this!
