icalendar file on cloudup

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
I want to show events on my site. I am able to export my calendar to file.ics format. If I upload it to cloudup.com (which seems to be an Automattic owned activity), can I show it using the shortcode [upcoming event] ?
    Thanks.

Hi there, does this support doc help?
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/upcoming-events/

Let us know if you have any other question about that.

I had studied that page earlier.
From the example given on that page,

    [upcomingevents number=3 url="http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/ht3jlfaac5lfd6263ulfh4tql8%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics"]

the /public/file.ics part seems to be tricky. When I upload something on cloudup, it is encrypted and has an address like

I suspect that it is imperative to have the file extesion file.ics which is not available on cloudup.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

When I upload something on cloudup

To the best of my understanding, the icalendar feed used in the upcoming events shortcode needs to be taken directly from a public calendar on Google or Apple iCloud, not cloudup.

Can you explain a little why you are going through cloudup for this and what it is you want to do?

Simple! I avoid using google / Apple services as far as possible.
But I have found a solution. I upload my .ics file on a self-hosted site and use the short code: “upcoming event”. I wanted to use cloudup for the same. However it seems to be not possible. Any way, thanks for considering my problem.
