Icon images showing up as “x” s

  I followed directions and uploaded code for stumbleupon to single.php as instructed by Stumbleupon site, it shows in the correct place but the icon shows as an x. My question is did I upload the image to the correct place in wordpress account. The only way I know to upload is to go to write on the menu, then upload. But the code in single.php acts as though there is no image to fetch.

  Does anyone know where I am supposed to upload the icons?
