Icons on the editor aren't showing in Internet Explorer 11

  Icons on the editor aren’t showing in Internet Explorer 11. Icons on the menu bar aren’t displaying either.

  I have seen this on multiple WordPress instances, both hosted on WordPress.com and on personally hosted installs.

  Tracked issue to the blocking of ‘Download fonts’ in the IE security settings. This was configured through Group Policy in our corporate environment.
