Icons to log in – Google is missing
-
The comments section on one of my blogs offers log in options through WordPress, Google, Twitter and Facebook.
This is the text underneath the comments box:
“Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:”
The icons for WordPress, Google, Twitter and Facebook follow that text.
Yet, on my other blog, the Google option is missing. Any idea as to why? Is there a setting for this? I want my users to be able to sign-on through Google, since not everyone has WordPress, Twitter, or Facebook.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there – So we can see what you see, could you provide the URLs to both the blog which has all of the logins, and the blog which is missing the Google option? Thanks!

Here is the blog with the google option. Just click into the comment box at the bottom of the page, and the options show up underneath.
Here is a comment box from the second blog. Notice the missing Google option.

Hi there,
The difference is that your one site is on a custom domain, while the other is on a free WordPress.com address. The Google sign-in option for comments only works for the latter, and will be missing on any site that’s connected to a custom domain instead.
This is due to limitations in how the social login for comments work, and not something that’s broken that we can fix, so I’m afraid there’s no way to get that option visible for you on the site. Keep in mind, though, that this doesn’t prevent anyone from using their Gmail account to comment. They’ll just need to type in their email manually instead of clicking on the button. The end result will ultimately be the same.

Hello,
Wow, that is interesting. I never even considered that being the issue. But, like you said, it doesn’t really matter, as people can just enter their email address.
Thank you for the information.
