I am using Hemmingway template on a .com site. Icontact (my email service) gives a html code to produce a sign up form for my mailing list, but the code doesn’t produce a button when I enter it into the html field of a post or page on WP.
I’ve searched the forums a bit and it appears as though WP doesn’t allow sign up forms on .com for some security reason, but I thought I’d be extra sure. Is there a way around this?
There is a widget to do this, but it seems like it’s only for .org site.
    Any advice out there?
    Thanks
    David

External forms will not work here on WordPress.com; currently, you can only use our Contact Form – http://support.wordpress.com/contact-form/

Thanks for response. I put the code first into the rich editor and then into HTML view. The former did nothing (just showed the bracketed “contact-form”) and the latter created a big text box without the email or name fields. Any thoughts?
    A couple related questions?
    1. If in fact I can get the contact form onto the site, is there a way of doing it without the big, garish text box?
    2. If I upgrade to custom CSS can I plug in the icontact code somewhere?
    Thanks again.

Okay, I realized why the name and email fields weren’t appearing. But I’d still like to know if it’s possible to do it without the humongous box. Thanks.

The big garish text box is so that people can write you a message. What’s the use of a contact form without it? And it should be possible to tweak the size of the contact from with custom CSS.

Yes, you can customize the appearance of the form with the Custom CSS Upgrade, but the upgrade will not allow you to embed the icontact code.

Thanks guys for you speedy replies.
The reason I call it garish is because I just want to use the contact form to supply my mailing list. The comments are unimportant.
I guess if I used a WordPress.org set-up I could install widgets and whatever I choose. Might have to go that direction.
    Thanks so much.
