iCopyright Question

I currently have an account with iCopyright to protect the things on my blog but I just got notice from them that I need to install the new tools and to do so I need to access the Admin page where I need to install the ‘PLUG-IN’. After searching for some time I found an article here that says I can not use “plug-ins” at “.com” only at “.org”, so my question is this…

How do I continue to provide copyright protection on my blog if I can not install the upgrade required by iCopyright?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There are lots of ways, depending on what exactly you want to do. Some people have a text widget, alert, or sticky post explaining copyright on their blog. Some watermark their photos. Some have a copy-paste text file they put in the bottom of each individual post.

All those are fine but you are missing the point. The copyright I have is a “registered” copyright and in order to be protected “legally” there needs to be a way to upgrade iCopyright per their requirements not WordPress’s, otherwise it just becomes an “addition” to a post and provides NO legal protection.

I just don’t understand why WordPress.com would grant iCopy and not allow for the upgrades as they occur.

WordPress.com did not specially grant iCopy anything at all. We can choose to use third party programs that aren’t JavaScript. Any codes that aren’t restricted codes will operate on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

The secret is the “iCopyright Tag:” a fragment of meta data embedded within each article and rendered as a series of links, and an intelligent, interactive copyright notice. Together, these tools and tags enable iCopyright’s Virtuous Circle for Content Monetization.

The All-In-One “iCopyright Tag Tool for WordPress is a plugin that you download and activate from within your WordPress admin dashboard. Play the quick install video or follow the step-by-step instructions below.

In other words, it’s for monetized self hosted WordPress.com blogs. We cannot post blogger initiated advertising on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. We have no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we cannot install any individual plugins into our free hosted blogs.

Copyright is automatically attributed to the creator and it’s not necessary to post a copyright notice. There are also alternatives that can be used like Creative Commons licences. http://creativecommons.org/licenses/ and MyFreeCopyright http://myfreecopyright.com/

As TT said, your copyright is already legal. Using that plugin does not add legality to your copyright at all, no matter what you may have read.
