I'd like to change the website name but keep the site

    Hello,
I started the process of making a blog on wordpress, didn’t have enough time to actually use it, and now I would like to come back to blogging, but change the name of the site to something that suits the content a bit better–(for example, I went through a phase where I was super into different cheeses and wanted to call my blog cheesy reading. Now I’m into vegan cuisine and want to call it sunburned turnips. This is not what actually happened, but you get the idea.) The bad news is, I went ahead and actually published the site live and never used it after that. Should I delete the site? Or is there a way to change the name even after being published?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

You don’t need to delete the site, no. To change the free WordPress.com address, you can follow the steps here:

    Change a Blog Address

That will move the entire site with all content, followers and stats over to the new address, and the old address will either be deleted completely, or become a new empty site, depending on the options you select during the process.

Note that you can only change the address to one that does not already exist on WordPress.com.
