I'd like to know how to add my own personal footer categories and links?

  Try adding the blogroll widget and let me know if that works for you. It looks like that might be what you had in mind.

  yes well a blogroll widget like the sidebar one would be fine but with a different title than other than blogroll.

  every time i try to add a blogroll to the footer area it just copies the same as the blogroll in the sidebar that i’ve done.?

  Okay. If you want to use just HTML in a text widget instead, try this:

  <a href="http://www.bikepacking.com/">http://www.bikepacking.com/</a>

  Or if you want the blogroll but with different settings (like a different title) you can do that by editing the widget.
