I’d like to start (over) with another username
-
I’d like to change my username. I haven’t done anything with my blog yet so the whole thing could be reset if it is an alternative.

Hi there,
You can change your username from the Account Settings page:
https://wordpress.com/me/account
Once you change your username you will not be able to change it back and the old name will not be available for you or anyone to use. If you just want to show your name differently please only change your Display Name from the page:
You can check the guide at:

Thank you for your reply.
Is it so, that the user name is only the name I use to log in and it is not visible to anyone else?
-
I noticed the minute I posted my latest question, that the user name is also visible on this forum, at least.
-
I also figured out that this became a probelm for me, because I had not activated my email address yet, so the username inpit field remained disabled. Once the email address had been activated, it became possible to change the username too.

Hi three,
Is it so, that the user name is only the name I use to log in and it is not visible to anyone else?
By default anyone will see your username when you comment on a site, and also as author of posts on your own site.
But you can set a public display name in your account settings. The display name doesn’t have to be unique (i.e. it’s possible for different people to set the same display name), and can contain spaces, special characters, and capitalization. If you have a display name set, that will appear as the author of your posts and comments, and when you follow someone or like a post, they’ll see that name in their notifications.
But the username will still be the unique ID you use to log in, and it will still display on posts in this forum, and on your site it still appears in the source code and in places like the Author archive URL for your site.
