Ideas for low-cost website for annual event that lasts one weekend per year

    I have my domain, sunriserummage.com hosted through GoDaddy and point it to a free page, sunriserummage.wordpress.com. Our rummage sale takes place in May each year so I need a paid site for only two months of the year, typically April and May. I am willing to pay for an ad-free site during those months but to control costs I would like it to revert to the free site the rest of the year. I don’t charge our participants enough to keep a paid site running all year but I’m willing to try the lowest-cost annual hosting if there is an annual plan that costs less than $4/month and lets me keep my domain with GoDaddy (I’m paid with them until April of 2024). Or let me know if you have a better plan or idea for my two-month per year needs. I know it is odd and complicated but looking for your suggestions.

    We have a few options for selling products here. You can find them detailed, and the plan level they require, at https://wordpress.com/support/monetize-your-site/#selling-physical-and-digital-products

    We do offer monthly plans, so it would indeed be possible to upgrade for only the needed month and then allow the plan to expire.

    When a plan expires, you lose access to all functionality offered by the plan, but if you’re only selling during that month, it should work out the way you want.

    Thanks for your prompt response.

    I should have been more clear regarding the purpose of the website. We don’t use it to sell items, we just use it to list the addresses of participants and a few of the major items for sale.

    Can I use the $4/month annual plan and still keep GoDaddy as my registrar? I think that’s my best option at this point, even though I will effectively be paying for but not using WordPress registration with the $4/month plan.

    Ah yes, if you’re just listing items, you can do that even under the free plan.

    If you’d like to keep your domain registered with GoDaddy, you can do that by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/ but this will require a paid plan, any paid plan.
