Identifying origin of Social Icons widget
-
You can see this widget on the bottom-right of my page in the footer.
Is this a core widget? It’s certainly not something I’ve uploaded because I’ve never had a paid plan. It came preinstalled when I launched this blog.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi orbitstorm,
It is the Social Icons widget and yes, it is a core widget. You can find it under Customize > Widgets and then most likely under Footer 3. There you can either remove the widget or edit the social links for your different profiles.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the response, epoolman.
Strangely enough, when I submitted an enhancement request for this widget, @westonruter closed the ticket and stated that this widget is not a core widget (which is why I’m posting now).
Here’s the ticket: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/43321#ticket

That ticket you submitted is for WordPress.org and not for WordPress.com that your website is using and that widget is not part of the WordPress.org core so hence his reply and closing your ticket.
Here is a post that shows you how to add your own Social Media icons to your footer – https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-social-media-buttons-to-your-sidebar-or-footer/
Hope that helps!

The social icons widget is not a core widget. It’s a widget we developed for WordPress.com, and which is in the process of being added to Jetpack for self-hosted sites.
I’ll make a note of your requested icons for a future iteration of the widget – thanks for the suggestions!
