There has been a change to the post editor interface at https://wordpress.com/post/ and Staff are recommending that we bypass the New Dash in favor of posting directly on our sites at Dashboard > Posts > Add New. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/where-did-the-add-media-button-go?replies=2#post-1927520

There will be further new iterations of the post editor at https://wordpress.com/post/ and that is why the advice is to go to Dashboard > Posts > Add New and use the full post editor there.

CAN YOU NOT JUST TELL ME IN PLAIN ENGLISH WHAT TO DO ?
i cannot log in to your links with my username or email coz they say they do not recognise them as they do not exist although i am posting and logged in with them on extraneous sites !

Are you referring to a gravatar/avatar/blavatar image?
If you are then I see this one http://0.gravatar.com/blavatar/cea49a37b707bf915d4423e4245411bd?s=32You can upload your gravatar image that will appear next to your username at Dashboard> Users -> My Profile in the dashboard.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/avatars/ Do not forget to select a rating for your image.Gravatars/blavatars do not show up instantly after uploading them. Gravatar images are cached and frequently take several days to display after a change. Do not keep uploading!

why is wordpress so full if obstacles in allowing people to upload photos ?? most other platforms just allow you to take a foto or choose from existing ipad camera roll and that s it (???))

If you have already uploaded an image to your gravatar profile you need to wait for the WordPress cache to update before it will appear next to your username. As timethief pointed out this could take a couple of days, so please be patient.

Gravatar.com is a separate website from WordPress.com. You have uploaded your photo to Gravatar.com, but WordPress.com still needs to fetch the photo from Gravatar. It may seem like a roundabout way of doing things, but several sites use Gravatar and you can use this same username profile to log in to any of them and your avatar will be there along with it without you having to upload a new image for the new site.

I answered these questions earlier today and timethief has linked all relevant support docs for you. Repeating the same question over and over again is not going to lead to a different answer. Upload a photo and then wait for the WordPress cache to update. Make sure the photo is big enough, at least 512 x 512 pixels.

In any photo editor you’ll be able to set that size and you can see any image’s size by viewing the image properties. I don’t know how to do that on an iPad, so I can’t help you with that.

i do not have an image editor on ipad .
So assuming my photo is rejected on size or any other grounds how long is the maximum that i need to wait before i can assume that it will never appear against my username . is a week sufficient ??Sent from my iPad

Just to confirm, when you go to Settings ->My Profile you can see your picture there? I’m asking as I can’t see your dashboard.

The image you see in the upper left is your blavatar and was uploaded at Settings ->General in the dashboard. It is not associated with your username, it will not appear next to your username, it is associated with your blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/avatars/blavatars/

Did you upload an image from that page using the instructions provided by timethief, here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/avatars/gravatars/#upload-an-avatar ? I’m NOT asking about the image in the admin bar, but on the page itself.
