IE 11 installed today and only WP sites seem problematic
-
If I click on a link on a different site that takes me to a WP site my browser crashes. Some WP posts in Reader cause the same reaction. Other WP posts it is when I click on Comment.
Any ideas what I need to turn on or off on IE 11?
Thanks!

P.S. While you are waiting all I can suggest is trying a different browser. http://browsehappy.com

Thanks Timethief – the IE 11 was a surprise this morning and I’m not very savy. Will wait patiently and am subscribed.

Thought it might be helpful to show the error message:
We were unable to return you to wordpress.com.
Internet Explorer has stopped trying to restore this website. It appears that the website continues to have a problem.
What you can do:
Go to your home page
Try to return to wordpress.com

When a website causes a failure or crash, Internet Explorer attempts to restore the site. It stops after two tries to avoid an endless loop.

Just an update that nothing has changed (still waiting patiently). It still appears to be isolated to WP sites.
I can get to my blog through a direct link in my favorites but the “read more” tag in a post triggers the crash.
I can get to WP posts if I have the address, or, even through reader “links to blogs you aren’t following but have visited” – but clicking in the reader screen of new posts from blogs you follow, or, by tag selected – it crashes.
I tried turning off Smart Filter and Pop-up Blocker (but did not clear cache or restart) – neither made a difference so turned them on again.
I have disabled three add-on’s but they haven’t made any difference after restart.
Just looking for advice on what to turn off or turn on or off.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having these issues. Is this an issue specifically in the Reader?
Here are a few ideas to try:
* Please make sure you have JavaScript enabled on your browser.
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/howtoscript* If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11* Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily.
* Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

Hi Jackiedana,
Thank you for replying.
I double checked and have JavaScript enabled.
I am not using compatibility mode.
I am using https.I have disabled everything except my McAfee that I have used forever. Siteadvisor Toolbar and Siteadvisor BHO.
Nothing has made any difference.
Any other suggestions?

Have you rebooted your computer since upgrading to IE 11? That seems to have helped some people.
Also, have you tried a different browser to see if you are running into the same problems? This will help isolate the issue to IE 11 and not to your connection/computer.

Hi Jackiedana,
I shut down the computer every day. Something changed that I can’t seem to fix with IE11, so, I have your advice and tried a new browser (very scary) and everything has returned to normal.
Thanks for trying to help me solve the problem with IE11 and the advice. I appreciated it very much.

You might try uninstalling the other extensions in your IE 11 toolbar, even though you have been using them in the past, to see if one of those is causing the problem. Sometimes there can be incompatibilities introduced with new versions of software.
