  I want tor register a .ie domain name, can I do this via WordPress. I have sought the permission from my local Authority.

  .ie is not a domain extension that you can register with WordPress.com. This support doc on Domains details which domain extentions you can register: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#available-domains

  The support doc does state:

  If the domain extension you want to use is not available for registration on WordPress.com, you can register elsewhere and add it to your WordPress.com blog using Domain Mapping.

  You could explore this route.
