IE versus Firefox – making it look good in both

I am still only in preview mode for css (i haven’t upgraded yet). i changed my horizontal list of pages on the main page (i.e. about, podcast..etc) so that it’s one nice, slim bar across. the problem is that when i have it in 165 px, it looks perfect for firefox but there’s a small gap on the right (i.e. the bar doesn’t reach the end of the content box that fills up most of the screen..so you see a crack of my picture underneath it). if i make it 166 px, it extends the bar so it looks perfect for IE but then it’s too long for firefox and so the bar breaks up and looks awful. suggestions? thanks so much.

This is a problem that has caused a lot of strife in many web designers. Basically, there are differences in the way that IE and Firefox interpret containers within containers.

IE is notorious for having differences that cause problems in styling web pages. A common solution is to write your code so it works in firefox, and then have a speciall css page just for solving IE problems – ieonly.css or something like that.
