-
Hi,
I am creating a website using wordpress and most of my target audience are using IE7.
May I know is there any theme that is compatible to Internet Explorer 7?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Andy, you would need to test the theme demos to see how they work on Internet Explorer 7, since we only officially support IE going back to version 9. You may want to look for an older theme, but then it likely won’t be responsive, so you’ll want to activate the mobile theme so it’s readable on mobile devices. You might want to look at Twenty Ten, for example: http://twentytendemo.wordpress.com/

Only .2 % of internet users are using IE7. http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_explorer.asp
Why can’t these folks download Firefox or Chrome at http://browsehappy.com ?

andylauyanyu, just curious about your audience. Do you know why they are still on Internet Explorer 7 and unwilling to switch?
Newer themes are almost all developed with HTML5, which IE7 won’t know about and may or may not render well. However, there are at least a couple older themes that might work out well for you, such as Twenty Ten which kathrynwp recommended. A few others you might want to check out are Manifest https://wordpress.com/themes/manifest/ and Yoko http://yokodemo.wordpress.com/ I checked the demo sites for those using IE7 on http://www.browserstack.com/ and both looked ok to me.

Hi designsimply,
My audience are doctors, nurses and staffs of a hospital, all the medical records and important datas of the hospital in their server are all saved in IE7 format, which means they will need to change the whole hospital system if they need to upgrade their browser to a newer version. And due to their server security purpose, my audience are only allow to use IE7 other than Chrome or Firefox (not allow to download).

IE7 isn’t a format, though. It’s just a browser. Anything IE7 can display, a newer version of IE can display.
-
andylauyanyu, thanks for the explanation! I’m always curious about restrictions like that.
The best option in your case will be to use an older theme as Kathryn suggested. Twenty Ten and Manifest might both be good options for you, and if you need more help finding a suitable theme, reply back here and let us know a little more about your use case and what kinds of features you are looking for in a theme besides IE7 compatibility.
