If a WordPress domain has not been active since 2006, is it possible to obtain i

I have purchased a .ca domain. Unfortunately the same WordPress blog address is not available (has not been active since 2006). Is it a) possible to obtain that blog address or b) use another WordPress blog address to get set up and customize the domain after? I am currently rebranding and will be moving from Blogger to WordPress.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    a) it is if you personally find the owner and negotiate a handoff for that domain. Staff will not assist.

    b) yes, the underlying whatever.wordpress.com URL doesn’t matter. It’s visible in the image files, etc, but you can always register whateverca.wordpress.com and map your custom domain to that.

Thanks @raincoaster. I’m not great when it comes to the technical side so your help is appreciated. I guess it would be best to find the closest available whatever.wordpress.com URL if it still shows up in image files.

If you’re going to register whatever.ca then I would use whateverca. wordpress.com instead of somethingclosetowhatever.wordpress.com for SEO value. I might be guessing wrong, but I might not be. A lot of people still google Whatever.ca and to Google it reads like whateverca.

    I would use whateverca. wordpress.com

Has way more class and if nothing else you get style points (and easier to keep the domains straight if the base matches the mapped domain
