if EDITORS delete a post on my blog, can ADMINISTRATOR retrieve it?

  • Unknown's avatar

I just added an editor to my site.

He will be editing/updating information in previous posts that I have made to my site.

IF he were to delete a previous post, can I, as administrator, retrieve the post?

IF he were to edit a previous post, can I, as administrator, revert back to a previous version?

thank you in advance for any help provided here.

I assume you are talking about: http://huperoyalty.wordpress.com/

As far as I know, an administrator cannot un-delete a deleted post. Once deleted, it stays deleted. The only way to retrieve it would be to look for it in Google’s cache, although that may not be the most recent version prior to deletion, and in worst case, Google has already indexed and cached the new version of the post.

WordPress saves the five last revisions (look at the bottom of the screen in the posts editor). Thus it may be possible to revert back to the original. However, if your editor hits the save button six times before finalizing the edited post, all versions prior to his editing are gone. Again, Google’s cache is your only best hope for reverting to the original.
