If I change blog address-will any appearance and contents changes occur?

If I change my blog address-will my blog look exactly the same under the new name? Will the theme, menus, appearance, posts, menus – everythng 100 pc remain intact? I presume search engines won’t be showing the old blogs entries any more?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Literally the only thing that changes is the URL. Search engines will still have your blog posts indexed, although under the old URL. It takes about four months for them to index the new one as high as the old one.

Thank you. Will I be still able to use my old blogg address? Ie. if I own blogAA, and I change its address to blogBB, will I be able to use blogAA address and its contents?

It’s the same blog. But if you change a whatever.wordpress.com URL to a different whatever.wordpress.com URL, you lose all search engine ranking immediately, and all incoming links, and all followers unless you buy the Redirect Upgrade.
If you just buy a custom domain, the old URL still works and none of those bad things happen.

Sorry, just to clarify- I intend changing the existing address “name1.wordpress.com” to the new address “name2.wordpress.com” , and then I will buy custom domain to direct it to “name2.com”. What happens to “name1.wordpress.com”? Can I make changes to it, change theme, add pages, blogs, continue using it as a separate blog? If so, I intend buying a domain name to direct it to the “name1.com”. -
What happens to “name1.wordpress.com”?
Unless you take special precautions, it dies and can never be re-used.
I suggest instead, just creating the second name2.wordpress.com URL, importing the contents of name1 into it, and then buying the custom domain and mapping on name2. Set name1 to private.
I mean, if you’re going to use a custom domain, the underlying URL doesn’t matter, so why bother doing this? You’ll just lose all your search engine ranking, followers, and incoming links.
Why are there suddenly three or four questions like this in the forum? Has someone been going around saying this is a good idea? It’s not.

I wanted to do as you say – import contents of name1 to name2, but it did not import an exact copy of name 1, I got just a strange layout of posts listed in name 2. The theme, menu layout etc are lost.
So perhaps I better don’t change then anything so I do not loose the hard work I’ve done on name 1. I’ve mixed up the blog names, and can not switch them now. Anyway, your support is very good.
