If I change my theme will all widget info be saved?

    Sorry it this is a dumb question, I’m still pretty new to this site.

    If I decide to change my theme does the system retain all the information I’ve already entered into any widgets (providing I choose another theme that allows widgets)? I just want to ensure all the set-up I’ve already done (including text widget additions) are not lost if I change my design theme?

    If you go from a theme with 2 sidebars to 1, the widgets that were in the other sidebar will be put into the “inactive widgets” area at the bottom of the widgets page and all content will be saved.

    If you go from a theme with 1 sidebar to another with 1, then everything should still be there and in place.

    I always save the content of text widgets in a plain text file for safe keeping just in case.
