If I change my URL…

    I’m thinking about changing my URL, because I thought that it might be too long. I’m trying to get my blog off of the ground and I keep thinking that random people might be too lazy to type in “southwestforthewinter.wordpress.com”.

    If I change it something shorter will the old address work for a short amount of time after the transition? I’m trying to think of how not to lose what few readers I have in the process.

    Hi brirome,

    If you modify your blog url, this will take effect immediatly. So if you want your user to be able to visit your blog with the old URL, the easiest thing to do is probably to purchase the Domain Upgrade. Like this your blog should be available in both the .wordpress.com and your custom .com domain, with the same content.

    Or you could create another blog and move the content from the previous one to the new one, and warn users from the previous blog that they should now visit the new one.
