If I change theme, everything’s mixed up

    Hello,

I had edited the CSS on a specific theme and I decided to change to a new theme. When Ι activate one different theme, then my blog seems like a salad. Scattered. The menu for example is under the posts and nothing seems like the the chosen new theme. If I go to the edit CSS and choose “Start from scratch and just use this”, nothing changes.

I want to start from the very begging. To see the chosen theme as is, without modifications.

I have bought the CSS upgrade and it is active.

What is going on and what I have to do in order to erase any of the previous modifications?

    Thanx,
    F

Go into your dashboard -> users -> your profile -> then scroll down to ‘contact info’. In the spot where it says ‘website’ fill in the address of your blog and save the changes.
Now… when you comment here and on other blogs, your name will link to your blog. If you do this before you post your request for help, it will allow forum volunteers to be able to help you quicker since they won’t have to ask you for a link and wait until you come back to post one.

Hope any CSS expert would be kind enough to help you though there is no guarantee for CSS help. And thanks for adjusting your user name.

Hello there. While you are waiting for CSS help you may want to read this post by the Volunteer who helps with CSS http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/

Even I copied the original stylesheet of the theme to the CSS Stylesheet Editor and I don’t see the same appearance as the original theme.

Anybody has an idea what’s going on?

This is the first sentence of the post which I linked to above for you:

The common mistake 98% of people who have the CSS upgrade make when modifying a theme is to paste the WHOLE theme’s CSS code in the CSS Editor. DO NOT DO THAT!

At the present time we usually see only one Volunteer helping with CSS on a regular basis, and only when he has time to do so as he is working full time. I’m afraid you will just have to be patient until he or another Volunteer get back to you.

    Ok thanx.

Meanwhile, I will follow the instructions of this blog and I will try.

CSS is theme specific so it won’t transfer and work with another theme.

Go to appearance > edit CSS then delete everything in the CSS edit window and then make sure “add to existing…” is selected and then click the “save” button. That will return you to the original CSS for the theme you have active.

    OK I got it.

Everything is like the original theme. Now I will read the rest of this blog in order to make the modifications with the right way.

Thanx Timethief. Do you sell time, by the way?…kidding..:)

lol … I twice stole my life back from the grim reaper and that’s why I chose this moniker long before there was any other connotation affixed to it. :)
