If I delete an old post, will all the associated statistics be deleted too?

I have one post which was hugely popular for a while (in 2008) and had a resurgence later, but which is now out of date and off topic for where my blog is now. The statistics for just this one post dwarf all others for several months and I would like to be able to see how my traffic would look without it.

It seems the only way might be to remove the post completely, which I am happy to do but only if I know this will have the desired effect – if old statistics for views per day / week / month are “pre-calculated” and do not actually belong to the post any more, then I am concerned that the stats might remain after the post is gone.

  • Stats are stored historically, so they will remain even if you delete the post.

Thanks for the really quick response, even though the answer is not what I was hoping to hear.

Alternative question: can I download the stats per post per day (as a big csv file for example) so I can do analysis on the raw data myself, so I can filter out and eliminate the “skew”?

  • Unfortunately, we don’t offer a way to export your stats.
