If I didnt export my content before getting wordpress.org did i lose everything?
-
I didn’t export my wordpress.com before installing it into the wordpress.org. The instiallation was by accident. Have I lost everything? I was originally trying to save my content but I was messing around by trying to figure out the wordpress.org page and now my domain name is a new page with nothing on it and I cannot access my old page.
HELP!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you did not delete the wordpress.com blog then the content is still there. Creating an export file means you create a copy and the original stays where it is.
-
Well, when I log into wordpress.com and go to my dashboard its all new content with none of my old pages, comments, themes, etc. Nothing is there. And now I have accidentally uninstalled something and now the page just showed bluehost information. I am seriously confused! I’m not even sure what I just uninstalled.
-
I know exactly how to export but wouldn’t I be making a copy of nothing considering my page isn’t there anymore?
-
Well, when I log into wordpress.com
Please provide the URL for the .wordpress.com blog in question in the form of an active link starting with http://
-
That is NOT a wordpress.COM blog and There is no domain mapping upgrade for desireandattire.com here at WordPress.COM.
That is a wordpress.ORG site.
-
Yes, I know that. Only because I Just accidentally made it to a wordpress.org site. BUT, I did not export and save my content before doing so, so what I am asking is… Did I lose everything from wordpress.com? Because that is what my blog started with until I was ready to operate wordpress.org.
Do you see what I am asking? Is there anyway to change it BACK to wordpress.com so I can access my content to export/save it?

What is the underlying URL of the blog before you did all of this? The whatever.wordpress.com URL?
You don’t just click and “change” to a WordPress.org blog. So what you’re saying happened didn’t happen that way. So we have to see the original URL in order to figure out what’s going on.
-
I’m not exactly sure what the original URL was. I was new to all of this a few months ago so I wanted my own domain name and paid for it. So since the behinning I’ve always used http://www. desireandattire.com
If anything it would have been desireandattire.wordpress.com but I used my own domain immediately.
What I did was I went on Bluehost and was just looking at stuff where I noticed under Website builders was WordPress. So I clicked it clicked install. I’m really not sure why I did that, but I didn’t think it would import itself to my page right away and remove everything that I did.
-
This is basically just an update gone wrong I think. I was planning on migrating my site to .org but I just didn’t get to export my old content before doing so. So I just want to know if there is any way of getting it back and then continuing on with .org
-
I’m afraid I’m not sure I can help with the information provided so far.
There is no WordPress.com site associated with the WordPress.com account desireesavo817.
There also is no website at desireandattire.wordpress.com nor is desireandattire a username here.
@desireesavo817 could you have used a different email address or username for your WordPress.com site?
-
Nope, that’s not the underlying URL http://en.wordpress.com/typo/?subdomain=desireandattire
We can’t help you if we don’t know what blog you’re talking about.
-
ITS NOT WORDPRESS.COM ANYMORE!
I don’t think anyone is understanding what I am saying.
I have migrated my website from wordpress.com to WORDPRESS.ORG.
Before dong so I DID NOT EXPORT AND SAVE MY CONTENT, therefore I have lost EVERYTHING and I am left with a blank blog.WHAT I AM ASKING IS……..
HAVE I LOST EVERYTHING FOR GOOD?????? Meaning do I have to basically start over???
It is a simple yes or no question. -
We understand you perfectly, but what you are saying does not add up.
Creating a WP.org blog does not destroy a WP.com blog. The content does not go anywhere. It just sits there. If it had a custom domain, and you CHANGED THE NAMESERVERS to point it at Bluehost, the content still stays here under the original whatever.wordpress.com URL. So, in order to get to the content and create an export file, you remember your username here, you go to http://wordpress.com and you log in. Then the blog will be on the drop-down menu on the grey admin bar.
You have to log in as the user who created the blog, and that’s not this account.
-
But you didn’t change any nameservers, did you?
And you don’t have another account here, do you?
-
That’s so weird, because I am logging in with everything that I have been for the past couple of months. I’m so confused now :(

When I log into wordpress.com it bring me to a page where the top bar has tabs that say
Reader, Stats, My Blog, and Freshly Pressed. I used to click my blog and access my dashboard through there.
My stats are all still the same and even the picture of my website shows up in a tiny picture saying visit page. And when I click that its not my page. I’m sorry if I’m not making sense but this all happened in a matter of 2 minutes
