If I get a custom domain, will readers of my blog still be coming to WordPress?

    I secured a domain name that I want to use for my blog but am not sure where it will send readers to….does it still come to wordpress or to a separate website?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    @lenorahowze, thanks for your question.

    That does depend on how you set up the new domain. For example, say you bought the abcdefg12345.com domain from Godaddy then you could map :
    abcdefg12345.com -> lenorahowze.wordpress.com

    For all intents and purposes visitors to your site would now think your site’s domain is abcdefg12345.com

    You can also obviously buy the domain from WordPress.com and do the same thing.

    Not wanting to overcomplicate matters, but you could also point your new abcdefg12345.com domain to a site on a web host somewhere, which wouldn’t be lenorahowze.wordpress.com

    The choice is yours ! What I think you probably want to do is either the first or second example that I gave above.

    For more information on domains @ WordPress.com, there’s a very comprehensive document here – https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/ , which has links out to other pages like “Register a new domain” and so on …

    If this doesn’t solve/answer, then please do come back to us here, either myself, one of the other volunteers or a staff will help you to resolve.

    Cheers

    Don Charisma
