    What do you mean by “losing your host”?

    If you map your domain to WordPress.com, any web hosting accounts and subscriptions that you’ve subscribed to will continue unless you cancel them specifically.

    What is the name you want to map here?

    Is it on a working web site currently?

    Are you moving to WordPress.COM from another site? Or do you just want to change the blog name to a custom domain name?

    The short version is: you won’t lose your host, but your hosted blog will become invisible to everyone. You’ll probably not be able to log into it either. So you will spend money to map your domain to your blog here but you will also still be paying for a hosted blog that nobody can see.
