If I pay, can I still link all my sites and go add free?
-
Hi Everyone, I’ve got a number of free sites, that I link to with the “About” page, on my original WordPress page: https://drdavidtevans.wordpress.com/about/ (then click the Gravitar https://gravatar.com/davidtevans). But these adverts and pop-ups are SO distracting.
I’ve seen there is a £3 (UK) start up fee or £7. If I paid for this main site:
- Does that mean I can still link to all the other sites?
- Do all the sites then go add / pop-up free?
- If the advert to pay says a free domain name for 1 year, what’s the price after that?
Thanks so much. David

Hi @davidtevans,
Those are fair questions you are raising. I’ll go one by one so it’s easier to follow.
Can you still link to your other sites if you upgrade?
Yes, upgrading your main site (like drdavidtevans.wordpress.com) won’t affect your ability to link to your other free WordPress.com sites. You can still link to them freely from your About page or anywhere else.Do all your sites become ad/pop-up free?
No — only the site you upgrade will have ads removed. If you want your other free sites to be ad-free as well, each one would need to be on a paid plan.
– Note: Ads on your Gravatar profile page (if any) are managed by Gravatar itself and won’t be removed by upgrading your WordPress.com plan. What happens after the free domain year?
The free domain is included for the first year with a paid plan. After that, standard renewal rates apply. Price will be depending on the domain extension. You can check prices and available domain endings (TLDs) here:
