If I post a message will others be able to send me emails?

Yes, I am brand new to blogging and this what-appears-to-be very informative, helpful site. I want to post a message, not just replying to one. I do not want to receive messages to my email in response to it. Will that happen? I really need some help and good advice, so I am very anxious to post my blog. Please someone respond, because I won’t post until I know messages will not go to my email account. (It is a controversial topic and I’m sure I will get millions of unwanted emails.)

Look at the page of your dashboard
settings -> discussion
There you can control moderation, email alerts and the like.

To expand on what katm said, the only way for someone to email you via your blog is
a) by commenting on your blog (if you in your settings ask for email alerts whenever someone comments on your blog) or
b) by setting up a contact form on your blog (your email will not be displayed, but all contact messages will be delivered to your email)
In conclusion, you can be as private as you want, or as public as you want. -
Do Note one thing it is always best to set up a email account for
your website that way you can keep your personal email private…Also one more thing if you comment on someone else’s blog the admin
of that blog will see your email attached to your comment in there admin panel…

In order to lessen the exposure of your private email, it might be a good idea to set up a separate email account for your web activities. The minute you reply by email to a comment notice or contact message sent to you, or leave a comment on someone else’s site, your email address is exposed.

Thank you so much to everyone! You are all very kind and helpful. I am so glad I am joining this site and will always try to help others, if I can, as you all have helped me.
You may see me post under this name, but possibly another because I went ahead and took the advice of setting up a new email account for controversal types of things.
