If I register a new domain. can I let the original domain expire and continue to
-
I just registered a new domain for my blog. My original domain will expire next February and I don’t want to renew it. Will the new domain address, now my primary domain…still work or does it depend on the original domain to be forwarded? Can you tell I’m lost? Neither of the domains show up in the options to select my URL. suzysomethingthinksoutloud.com will expire. mfavthings.com is the new domain.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Howdy,
You’re all set. The domains are independent of each other (though point to the same site), so everything will still work right and as expected once the old one expires.
If anyone tries to visit the old domain between now and the expiration, they’ll see the new domain in their address bar. If anyone tries to visit after the expiration, they’ll see an error message (or a different site if/when someone else purchases the domain name).
As an FYI, I believe you could select suzysomething.wordpress.com – it’s the “permanent” address of your WordPress.com blog (if you ever decide not to use a domain at all).
Please let me know if you have any questions! Cheers!
