If I transfer a premium upgrade to a new site what happens to the first?

If I transfer my upgrade to another Wp.com site will I lose the structure ( storage capacity) already used on the first one?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The upgrade is used on involution-odyssey. I MAY decide to transfer it to philipparees but only if the content of inv-ody remains unchanged?

    Hello there!

You will lose the features that the Premium offers that first site, but you can just add a stand-alone space upgrade to the initial site if that helps.

You can do that in your site’s Store:
    https://philipparees.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php

You will not lose any of your content.

I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

Thanks for reply. Could you have a quick look at involution-odyssey and tell me what would be lost if I transferred or cancelled the upgrade. There is one video (author interview) for which I could add space but custom headers etc?

    Hi again!

It appears as if your color scheme might have been adjusted. If I am right about that, those customizations will be lost. You can choose one of the default color schemes:

To view those colors, click Appearance → Customize in your site’s Dashboard. Then click colors.

You also get the No Ads upgrade as part of your Premium upgrade. If you cancel that feature, ads will most likely be displayed on your site:

    Ads on WordPress.com

Here are all the other features that come with the Premium upgrade, so can decide whether they’re important to your site:

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!

    thatrobyn thank you.

It needs careful thought. One final question (sorry). If I transfer involution-odyssey to a self hosted option will I be able to export it as it is ( with the premium features)? I am being advised to add apps which I cannot with Wp.com to maximize analytics with Wp.org.

I am reluctant ( a happy occupant of Wp.com) but need to consider?

    Hello there!

One final question (sorry). If I transfer involution-odyssey to a self hosted option will I be able to export it as it is ( with the premium features)?

    I’m happy to help :)

If you transfer to WordPress.org, only your content will be imported into the new site. The Premium upgrades that you purchase at WordPress.com can only be used here. They wouldn’t apply on the third-party server to which you’ll move.

I am being advised to add apps which I cannot with Wp.com to maximize analytics with Wp.org.

Could you tell me which apps you need? It’s possible I can help further, using the tools available here.

    Thanks again!

Robyn, sorry for break in communication- computer problems. I don’t really know what apps are likely to be suggested by someone evaluating my site. Mostly analytics and tracking apps and possibly email garnering ones. I already have Mailchimp and that may just need re-setting. It is to make a book site more SEO efficient so perhaps apps are not necessary?

    Hi there,

Please, note that this is support for the free blogs hosted at WordPress.com and I wouldn’t really be able to help you with this as I’m not so knowledgeable about MailChimp or SEO plugins on WordPress.org.

WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress at:

    http://wordpress.org/support/

    http://codex.wordpress.org/

I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

THank you both for answers. It is much as I expected. I would prefer to retain my Wp.com site. Whether I really need the apps is something I have to discover.
    Thank you

    Sounds like a plan!

    Cheers!
