If I upgrade my domain, will that new URL be linked to WordPress forever?

    I am considering upgrading my domain from journoprof.wordpress.com so that it would be journoprof.com.
    My question is, will the domain journoprof.com still be mine if, in the future, I decide to delete my WordPress blog and, say, set up a website using the journoprof.com URL?
    Not that I’m planning to do this, but just want to make sure I’m not linking the journoprof.com URL to WordPress forever.

    If you setup domain registration or mapping at journoprof.com, the domain is still yours in the future and you can set it up at another host or change the settings for it at any time.
