Hello there!
If I upgrade my web address to a custom domain name, will people still be able to access my site using the old web address (the one including ‘wordpress’)?
Absolutely! Your visitors will still see your site, but they’ll see your custom domain name instead. It should be a seamless process for you :)
Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!

Thanks. I asked because I wondered how quickly I need to order new business cards with the custom domain name and notify my regular followers of the change. But if the ‘wordpress’ URL will continue to take them to the site but display the custom domain name, there is no rush.
Thanks again.

I had a WordPress site which I set up a year ago, the URL of which I shorted to terrymurray.org. I can no longer access it using the full ‘wordpress’ URL, which is why I asked about changing the ‘murraysreview’ website. Is there a time limit during which the old URL is recognized?

Hey!
Because you upgraded terrymurraydotorg.wordpress.com to a custom domain (terrymurray.org), your visitors will only see the custom domain in their address bar. However, the site’s Dashboard is still accessible to your at terrymurraydotorg.wordpress.com/wp-admin.
It’s still the same site, but it simply has a shortened name.
Notice both these links display the same material:
terrymurraydotorg.wordpress.com/faces-on-places-a-grotesque-tour-of-toronto/
When you upgrade to a custom domain, we map all your pages/posts.
Thanks again!
