If I upgrade to .com what will to my original .wordpress.com?

I’m going to upgrade my blog to a .com
However if one of my readers were to type in my original url (technology4agri.wordpress.com) will they still be directed to the new .com site?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

New URLs: If you add domain mapping to an existing blog with posts, their URL’s will change. We’ll redirect any visitors looking for the old URL’s over to the new ones, so none of your visitors will get lost out there on the internet, but other services won’t always understand that the old links and the new links point to the “same” place. For example, Tweet counter widgets work based on particular URL’s, so old posts’ counts will be reset to 0. Once you make the change, future posts will not be affected.

PS – you will still edit your blog in the original URL ( technology4agri.wordpress.com.) NOT the new custom domain name

Thanks for the info guys.
Just to clarify: domain mapping? – I’d like to change it to tech4agri.com rather than the wordpress suggested technology4agri.com – This would work right?
Also I sort of understand the issue of service losing the location of the site. But still a bit confused. Any other examples?

Yes – the base blog makes no difference – the technology4agri.com was just a suggestion based on your blog name
You loose nothing, you will have two address that work but only one will show in the browser window – your base blog is unchanged ( technology4agri.wordpress.com) – just the address the outside world sees changes – however your dashboard when you make a new Post will remain at technology4agri.wordpress.com
