If I'm not tech savvy? Org or Com?

If I’m not tech savvy AT ALL would it be a good idea to start a dot org site rather than the dot com option? As I’ve heard that more can be done with a dot org site. However I only use WP sites to post my art and writings I’m not running a business and nor am I looking for high end multi-functional options, so what would be better, dot org or dot com? Thank you.

My answer is no because when you move to wordpress.ORG there is no staff support. There are only peer support forums. If something goes wrong you have to learn how to fix it yourself.

Thank you for your reply timethief. Far as staff support if I understand there is no staff support either on dot com if you are a free member? When I hit button for help and I type out my question it automatically directs my question to the members forum , so where is the staff support for free members on dot com? I know there is no live chat, but I don’t even see email staff support as a free member, or am I wrong?

All wordpress.ORG has is free software and free peer support forums.

There is no such thing as upgrading a wordpress.ORG install to get Staff support. As I said above there is no Staff support for wordpress.ORG software.

where is the staff support for free members on dot com?

All support docs are at https://en.support.wordpress.com/
Type in getting help and click search https://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=getting+help

    See: Getting WordPress.com Support https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/

There is no phone support. Those who have a paid upgrade for a wordpress.COM site can use the “Contact Support” form, http://support.wordpress.com/contact/

The best WordPress.COM contact form to use now for Staff assistance is:
    http://wordpress.com/help/contact

Live chat will be available there only if we have Happiness Engineers available to chat. When they are not available using that link results in posting to this peer support forum. https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/

    re: direct email support
Also note, that you can email WordPress.COM Staff at:
    help@wordpress.com

    Hi,

Far as staff support if I understand there is no staff support either on dot com if you are a free member?

I’m staff and I’d be happy to help you out!

As timethief mentioned, we have a guide which explains all of the support options available:

    Contact WordPress.com Support

If I’m not tech savvy AT ALL would it be a good idea to start a dot org site rather than the dot com option?

There are a few key differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. They are explained here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

If you don’t feel confident about finding hosting and maintaining the site yourself, then WordPress.com is a great option. There are plenty of themes to choose from, your site is customisable and you can connect your social media accounts.

What sort of features would you like your site to have? If you tell me the key ones I can point you in the right direction.
