If my blog goes against WordPress regulations?

If my blog goes against WordPress regulations by mistake, what happens?

For instance, if some blogger tries to monetize his/her blog without knowing the regulutions (by mistake) will they be informed about it or will action be taken without informing them?

Everyone is supposed to read the Terms of Service prior to getting a blog and using it, but since this isn’t a perfect world, not everyone reads it :) Staff make the determination on this, but completely blatant things are taken down on sight. I know staff were playing with a warning system they are using for certain mistakes, but reading the TOS is the best way to comply!

Ok. As you said, not all read the TOS. Although I have read it, I feel kind of uncomfortable when adding new widgets and other sort of things like adding feed, StumbleUpon links and other such things. I have ben debating for the past few days whether to add some feed links that I feel will bring me more traffic.

I feel it will be great if we are informed about the ‘breach of terms’ in our blog as our blogs are too precious to be lost; all for a silly reason!

As long as you are not running commercial, illegal, or otherwise “common senseless” material, I don’t think you would be in too much danger. Asking specific questions of staff is the only true way to know for sure, but putting specific examples for volunteers in the forums might also help guide you as well!

As you said! Here I go!
    1) Can I put links that may generate more traffic to my blog? Eg. StumbleUpon, Delicious etc.
    2) Can I have a feed service like FeedBurner to offer email subscriptions?
    3) Can I use third party widgets?

These are just a few of all questions I have. Will update this thread as I get more. I am sure many bloggers will find this thread useful!

    1) That is what many people do already, so I don’t think anyone has ever had a problem with that
    2) Feedburner is something common that quite a few people have figured out how to do. A quick search for it will show specific examples how to do it, but it should be fine!
    3) As long as they are HTML and not flash, embeds, javascript, etc they will work. For security reasons, wp.com strips out code that could be unsafe to the server. Most widgets out there that are not HTML will not work if they are not listed under your Admin => Presentation => Widgets!

Driving traffic to your blog is OK, but driving traffic to another blog is most likely not :)

    Thanks Trent!
Life would be difficult without people like you and TSP! ;)
