If only you could display chess games…

    My blog is devoted to my pastime, the game of chess. I would like to be able to share games, and there is already an ideal plugin: “Embed Chessboard”. But no way can I justify the cost of a Business Plan to enable what is only a side-interest of mine.

    I understand where your coming from, I used to run a daily crossword WordPress website and FB app.

    I gave it some thought and realized WordPress.com allows embedding of content (https://en.support.wordpress.com/category/embedding-content/) from websites.

    Websites like codepen might have users sharing playable Chess games like this (https://codepen.io/ryanheathers/pen/jqxPJW/) one which could be embedded. Or if you find another popular site which has embed-able games, you could request for that to be added to the embed-able content list.

    It’s worth a try.

    Hi chessandmusic,

    I tried embedding the Codepen pen on my WordPress.com site and it worked, I don’t have a business plan. But the tricky part is the embed height is 300px by default from Codepen

    This can be fixed if you have a premium or business plan by adding some extra CSS

    iframe {
	height: 1150px!important;
}

    This particular pen has a very basic Chess game, maybe if you find one that’s advance enough you might want to get an upgrade for it ;)
