  oxygen template blog question- if there is no picture on a particular post how do I get rid of the grey box?

  With the Oxygen theme, each post does need an attached image to display correctly on the blog’s index page.

  If you don’t want to place an image within the post itself, you can choose to add a featured image to the post instead. It will be used on the blog’s index page but not displayed in the post.
