If you buy a domain name one year, but not the next, what happens?

If I buy my domain name (keikisdayout.com) this year, and the next year, but say three years from now I’m out of the country and don’t pay for it, what happens? Does my whole website get deleted or does it revert back to being keikisdayout.wordpress.com?

Also, can you make “posts” into “pages” after you’ve already published them?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you fail to renew a domain mapping upgrade then all the links break and the blog reverts to the original .wordpress.com subdomain URLs.

Everyone who clicks the domain links they find anywhere on the interent to the blog experiences a 404 (page not found). All the backlinks to your posts are gone and your pagerank drops like a stone.

It then takes about 4 – 6 months for Google to clear their caches of all the broeken links and re-index each and every post and page under the old .wordpress.com sub-domain URLs again.

Also, can you make “posts” into “pages” after you’ve already published them?

There is no automatic way to do this you must copy and paste. .

@keikisdayout- Do you mean you want your posts to appear in Archives and Category pages? They already do that automattically. Click on the links in your sidebar under either Archives or Categories.

You can also create a custom menu, if your theme supports it, to make those appear in the top navigation bar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

If you mean static pages, you might want to read this Support doc on the difference between Pages and Posts http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ as well as this post from another forum volunteer on them. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/06/30/posts-on-pages/

PS – you can pay the domain registration & domain mapping ahead also – you don’t need to only renew annually – good thing to do then if something goes wrong you have plenty of time to fix the error – bit more involved with WordPress.COM – you need to turn off the auto renew and then manually renew the upgrade, then repeat as required. One note – if you do a pay ahead like this you can’t get a refund on the renewal if you change your mind.
