If you cancel your wordpress membership, will you lose a domain that has been mapped?

    Hey
    I wish to purchase a wordpress monthly membership so that I can map a domain purchased externally to my wordpress site. However, if at then some point in the future I cancel my wordpress membership, will the domain name cease to be mapped? Will it revert back to the default wordpress address without mapping, or will cancelling a membership not affect the mapped address?

    Hi Hamish –

    When you map a domain to WordPress.com the personal plan is required. The first step is to add that to your account from https://wordpress.com/plans/ and then you’ll be able to proceed with the domain mapping.

    The domain is only pointed to us with domain mapping. It will continue to be registered with the current domain provider. That means that stopping your mapping has no affect on the domain registration. You’ll still own the domain and at any point you can point it to a different provider.
