If you could change one thing about your theme, what would it be?

I second @littleobento in regards to the width issue for Bueno. That and the choice of header typefaces. Although they can be changed w/ CSS or Typekit, I think they’re kind of heavy to be the default typefaces. I love Bueno, but it is somewhat by default. I like Under the Influence but w/o out a custom background option, I can’t use it for all of my blogs. I’d love to see the result of a merger of Under the Influence and Bueno.
Also, one of the things that has limited my choices of suitable themes is the inability to change the link color. Seriously, why is blue so popular? There plenty of themes that I like, but I don’t want to be forced to use blue or red links. This as well can be changed w/ CSS but if everything else is perfect about the theme, buying the upgrade just to change the color seems like a waste of money.

I must also second @ensue and @debbirobertson in regards to the the dimensions of the header. I often have to redesign the header img/logo just to fit the theme. I have about 11 .psd files to correspond to the various themes that I’ve tried over time. Even for photo blogs, the header image isn’t always going to be a photo.
This may be a shot in the darkest of darks, but it would be great if the custom header feature could be widgetized. There could be an option to let the widget occupy 1-4 columns so a user could have a choice of having an image and a feed or “about us” text, or several images, etc; there are so many possibilities. If the theme’s footer was already widgetized, then the header’s max columns should match that.

one?
i would be most happy to put together the best of my three favourite themes.
otherwise, i would like to move the bars from left to right or otherwayaroundgreat job any way, you guys

WeAreSuns.com, zBench theme. I love using two sidebars, but it’d be nice if the main column headlines were bigger than the sidebar headlines, just to emphasize the main articles over the side columns.

I’m using Inuit types and if i could change one thing would be having an option for a custom picture header , like I had on my last theme. I really miss having a pic in the header and changing it according to my mood :) Right now i have a custom text widget but is just not the same…I want both…pleaaaassseeeeeee :)

Using Modularity Light, but would love for all themes that have a top menu..the ability to hide the title name from showing up on your page.

OH! Something that I think ALL bloggers would appreciate, no matter what their theme (I use Benevolence) is if you could make the Archives widget so that only the current years’ months show, and all other years just show the year. For example:
March 2011
February 2011
January 2011
2010
2009
2008Then when you click on each year, the months for that year show.
When all twelve months for every year show, it makes the archive widget get very long very before you know it. But I think many of us would like to show the archives, without using the drop down option.

One change? Being able to select between serif and sans-serif fonts.
Another? Control over link colors.

I use “Andrea”…but it seems like this is common for most? I would like to be able to change the font size and type without having to jump through hoops.
Also…if I’m allowed to add to my “what ONE thing…”
I’m new to blogging (just been here a month), so maybe I’m missing something…but I find it a challenge to try to leave no line spaces between lines…especially when writing poetry when there is a hard return after each line.
OK….and one more thing…. :)
The word “comment” is too big, following the title of each blog entry….sometimes it looks like it is a part of the title!
Thanks!!!!

Coraline has a mind of its own that makes editing a nightmare. You insert a picture, click Visual mode and it has added needless white space between paragraphs – switch back to HTML and you see scattered between pars. Trying to organise your horizontal spacing is impossible – you give up and leave the aberrations which Coraline imposes. It does not like having to wrap text round images!
Likewise the Wysiwyg facility is totally random in the Visual editor, depending it seems on the order in which you enter HTML commands – both fonts and colours can be untrue. Even viewing in Preview mode you must keep your wits about you as colours in particular may not show accurately.
Most dispiriting is if you happen to get your HTML slightly wrong and click Visual, when you return to the HTML view, yards of junk HTML will have been automatically entered in every single paragraph – making the entire post unreadable, so you have to revert to an earlier saved version.
I can’t believe the strings of commands that get entered into standard default text if you unwittingly insert cut-and-pasted text from elsewhere into a post while in the Visual editor. Revert to HTML view and you see something like this:
<!– @font-face { font-family: “Cambria”; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; font-size: 14pt; font-family: “Times New Roman”; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; } –> cut-and-pasted textWhy??? It means skimming plain text becomes a chore, and weeding out all the needless HTML another chore! Sorry but Coraline remains very clunky indeed in daily use.

In my Coraline post above, the actual code causing the unwanted line spacing is showing only as a gap in the third line: between the words “see” and “scattered” should be “ampersandNBSP” !

I use Pilcrow and I would like to be able to have the choice of showing the header or not. Also the font is too big and looks terrible on the page.

If you have a programmer, you can try to combine the design of “cooliris” and functionality of WordPress. Try to arrange colors curb pages such as light colored page edges – these are games, entertainment. A strong colors are the official documents of reference books. More vivid pages are the most visited places, the dark color is a weak context.
Ideas about how the site will be much more convenient, but there is no knowledge. -
Although I’m new to WordPress, my blog looks fantastic with the Greyzed theme. What I would change, though, is the ability to add an image (like a logo) to the header, while keeping all the Greyzed design elements intact. Is this possible with this theme?

I’m currently using the Bueno theme. I wish there was an option that would allow me to remove my site title (text) from being displayed on my header. I’d love to use my image header only.
-
My favorite theme is Digg, but I stopped using it in favor of my current theme (Coraline) because it only shows the parent pages at the top of the page. You can’t see the subpages by hovering over the tab like you can in some of the newer themes, and I have a ton of subpages that I need to have displayed. I would go back to Digg in an instant if this was added!
-
I want the choice to show or not to show the post I publish on my home page. So it will just be known by people who really searched for it or to whom I give the link of the post.
-
If i could change one thing about the theme i use ( Motion by 85ideas) it would be the option of having a large custom header image ( like Coraline) unlike the small header image option available now.
-
Not really theme specific but it would be nice to be able to place the social network share at the top instead of bottom default.
