If you could change one thing about your theme, what would it be?
-
I use Twenty Ten, but i think for ALL themes it would be nice to be able to occasionally change the background for a specific Post rather than having to for the entire Blog. By way of example, for Christmas I had a nice little holiday themed border, but ALL my posts going back to the beginning reflected that change – not just my particular holiday oriented posts. So, it makes to hard to have an appearance that is related to a particular posting so that the post might stand out on its own. Thanks, jim

If I could change one thing about quite a number of themes, it would be the use of fat black lines. Look at the fine thin light gray line that seperate the answers in this thread. And then look at the fat heavy black lines in for example Coraline – look at how the widgets are seperated with fat black lines. Those fat black lines are used in far too many WordPress.com themes. It’s always the simple ones that are the victims of fat black lines…

I really would like to personalize my header with other picture and text.
Also the ability to make the header wider would be great -
I would love to have some flexibility in font choice and color. Not an infinite number, but 10 or 20 might be nice. :)

I love Vigilance, but I would lovelove it with a left sidebar, too! I have so many widgets and links that the right sidebar tracks way down.
Thank you for asking!

I would love to make Twenty Ten and also other themes wider so flexible width features for me! Oh and be able to alter the size of fonts used as well in the Header, Sidebar and the body (blog post) area would be great. ( yes sorry that’s two requests)

Oh – one more thing: at the page where you choose themes you can click an option for displaying themes in alphabetical order. But when you get there, there’s no alphabet to click. You have to click 1, 2, 3, etc and guess what page number “S” is on. How about giving us an real alphabet to click?

I use “Misty Look” — I wish I could change the text color in the header, and also the font, easily as a option, not CSS. The text color would be my first wish, however.

Sorry, I can’t leave that alone — “an” option, not “a” option; oh well, overslept this morning.

For any theme, bigger text and text that does not blend in with the color of the background. Many sites have small text and/or the color of the text blending in with the color of the background. It’s unbearable. Look at what they just did to the Myspace forums. Real small gray text on a white background. I can’t read most sites nowadays. I manually add the bold text to all my posts on both my blogs so at least I myself can read what I’ve written. The deciding factor for me in picking a theme is usually if I can read it.

For the Pilcrow theme, I’d like the one-column template to be configured so that the text extends all the way across- instead of it just making the sidebar invisible. :)

One change about my current theme–about any of the themes–would be the option to as easily change the font size as font size of text in posts as we now can background color on most themes. I find the text of many themes that I like too small. I learned to change the background color with CSS, but I have not figured out the code for increasing font size. Yes, I know we have that Typekit thing, but I never figured it out, either. There are only so many hours in the day to research stuff, and only so much space in my brain.
PS, I really like the font of Twenty Ten theme.

On Bueno, I’d love to be able to darken or lighten the font on the content (as opposed to the header) of the sidebar widgets, so I’d have more flexibility in changing the background without the sidebar content washing out. I can do this using code when the content is strictly text, but when the content is predetermined (such as recent posts), I have no flexibility. Thanks for asking for the feedback.

I use Modularity Lite for two blogs. One thing I would like to see control over is the size of the navigation bar – it is too small.
;) And another one thing – adjustable side-bar width so I don’t have to lose so much photo-display real estate.

I use the Fusion Theme by digitalnature. There are two things I would like to change.
1. I would like to be able to customize the link colors and the text colors on the theme. If you notice you will see Blue links, Orange links, and then this weird purple where the tag links are. It doesn’t match AT ALL. If I could just pick a link color that would match with the overall look, it can make the theme look sooo much better. With that slight correction, everyone using this theme will feel like they have something customized.
2. The ability to change the background and the header colors. I LOVE the grey color header, that’s why I choose it but it can be too much at times. The ability to change that to whatever color would be great! And to be able to change the background color OR add a background image to the body of the theme, under the header, would be great too.
Other than that, to me, this theme is next to perfect. It would be perfect with those revisions.

I use Connections theme. Across the top horizontal nav bar it uses a gray/greenish link color, which turns white when moused over. This is fine if you only have a few pages listed with the darker green background of the nav bar.
But add enough pages that the nav links go to a second line, the second line background returns to the same creamy white of the entire theme. The gray/green links are barely readable, and when you mouse over them, they disappear! (White on creamy white background.) So please make the nav bar background color extend when the nav links are extended to past the first (or any) line.
You can see how this looks at my ThirdofaLifetime blog.
Thanks!

I use Zbench now, and love it, but i would love to have alert box in this theme, like the one in Vigilance theme :)

TwentyTen — two things actually.
First I would lose the italics in the blockquotes; in fact I am planning to write a blog post about blockquotes and why they shouldn’t be italicized.
Second, I wish the archive, tag, category, etc. pages would show the_content instead of the_excerpt, and I have suggested this in the ideas forum and also contacted support directly. I don’t think it would be too hard to make that a theme option.
Other than that I think TwentyTen is absolutely awesome. I am sort of embarrassed to be using the default theme but it’s just too good!
THANK YOU for asking!

I really like your Twenty-Ten (2010) Theme…but I really really REALLY want the font to be smaller. It is needlessly HUGE. This is not good for blogs with lots of text.

Oh and I forgot to add on the Fusion Theme by digitalnature, It would be nice for you to be able to fix the Excerpt post option.
Right now, it won’t really post an excerpt.. only two lines and forget it if you have a video it won’t show anything but the title and “Read More”. If fixed, it could show a portion of the post the correct way and allow you to read more while keeping the theme more organized.
