If you remove an author does that remove their past posts?

  One of bloggers no longer wants to contribute but we’d like to keep the posts they made in the past. If we remove the author will that also remove their past blog entries?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  No, their posts will stay with their name on them, they just won’t be able to post on your site anymore.
