If you unpublish a post will the email go out again if you republish?

If you unpublish a post because you hit publish by accident will the email go out to your followers again if you republish a few days later? Ugh.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Hi there – No, it only goes out the first time. To email it again, you’d need to copy it into a new post.

Oh, ha! I just manually copied and pasted it…guess I should have looked more carefully for that option…Good to know for the future. Is there a way to get prompted before you actually publish, such as a “Are you sure you want to publish?” prompt?
-
Hi there –
We don’t have that option currently. Just make sure to click ‘Save Draft’ instead of ‘Publish.’ If you’re worried about it, you could manually change the date on your post to one in the future before you start working on it. Then, even if you accidentally click the ‘publish’ button, it will just schedule your post for the future, which you can then undo:

Great idea! Thanks…I do click the Save Draft, but with two toddlers running around, every once in a while I quickly mean to hit Save Draft, but hit Publish instead…so annoying and totally my fault but such is life…I will use your suggestion though as it will help.
Also, I put this in another forum topic but do you have any idea why my post I published this morning isn’t showing up on the front page of my blog?
-
Ha, I understand!
Which post is that? It looks like you have a couple still in draft form here:

It’s the Look Inside My Kitchen…

Hi there,
The date on that is January 5th. You can edit the date and it will appear as it should:

That’ so weird…I never changed it. And I’m pretty sure it doesn’t keep the date that I started writing it…right?
-
The date reflects the date it’s first published. I’m not sure what happened either, in that case, but I wouldn’t worry about it unless it happens again. If it happens again, though, let me know!

Hi there. So the post that you had me edit the date on so that it would appear on my front page “Look inside my kitchen” had a problem with the link that was originally mailed out. Will the link not work if I alter the publish date?
-
Likely, that permalink will not redirect. However, if anyone follows it and gets a 404, they’ll probably just reload your blog, in which case the post they’re looking for will be right at the top anyway.
-
Can I delete the old post since I copied and created a new one to send out that now works?
-
-
-
Should I just go back an change the date back to the original? Will that make the original link ok again?
-
Hi there – It’s entirely up to you. You can change the date on the original, delete the duplicate, or leave both.
