iFrame support

Why do you not support iFrame? You offer a boxnet widget for my theme which I use on my site, enetbuilder.net and yet you do not support the updates to the widget. That means, of course, when Box updates it’s iFrame widget, it no longer supports the ‘Old” version…which means your widget is useless. What can we do about this?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We can update the widget if necessary. Is there a particular new feature you are missing?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes…my current widget is not being updated when I update my box.net online account..I am told by Box that WordPress does not support iFrame and therefore does not support the new widgets. Is this not true?

  • Unknown's avatar

What is exactly not being updated? I see that your widget is working, however the files are password protected. The embed source from box.net is only allowed within the box.net widget.

More information about the widget can be found at http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/boxnet-widget/

sent to me from the Boxnet support team…in my Box account I have three folders, two are client folders and are PW protected, the other folder is not PW protected and should be showing up in the enetbuilder.net site…please read below…

    Hi Joey,

Thanks for your reply and apologies if my reply sounded like I was not reading through your message. I’m under the impression that you are able to embed the code and it is initially working but is only not reflecting when updates are done to the content. I find it really strange that the widget does not display the changes on your Box.com account and that is why I asked for a better reference. This would have been very useful if it turns out to be a bug. It is unfortunate that wordpress is not supporting iFrames and this has negatively impacted your Box use case. At this time, we only have iframe file/folder widget codes and there is no alternative you can utilize. I will take note of your message and will forward it to our development team as a feature request and for consideration.

Again, apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

    Best,
    Junrey

Would you supply me with a phone number for support? This talking back and forth every couple of days is sooooo annoying…it’s like have a one-word-every-5-minute conversation…I need to fix it or forget it and then if I forget it I need to move my site or have it done in another language that will support the Box/iframe language…

The box.net widget allows you to add the embed code that’s generated at https://app.box.com/widget/wordpress . As you can see there it allows you to upload files and then accordingly create an embed widget. However, it does not pull files from your Box account.

Well the whole point of a Box app and the box widget is to have the update feature across all the devices…including a desktop website I would think. It is counter productive to have to upload on more than one site, re-install the widget etc. I mean am I missing something…why offer it at all if it doesn’t perform as it was designed…or do I have the wrong idea about a widget…thanks.

Sorry for the confusion there. There seems to be some sort of workaround.

If you want to add an existing folder from your Box.com account to your widget, then simply copy click on the ‘share’ link next to your folder and copy the last part of the folder link. Then paste that into the ‘PUTCODEHERE’ part of your embed code:

    <embed src="http://www.box.net/static/flash/box_explorer.swf?widgetHash=PUTCODEHERE&cl=0" width="190" height="345" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed>

I’ve just added this information to: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/boxcom-widget/
