Here’s the part colorfultones is referring to:
Portfolio Page Template
This template will display your portfolio and allow you to set your portfolio as your site’s home page.
When you first activate Illustratr, your posts will display in a traditional blog format. If you would like to show your portfolio projects on the front page of your site (like Illustratr‘s demo site), just follow these instructions:
– Create or edit a page, and assign it to the “Portfolio Page Template” from the “Page Attributes” module.
– Go to Settings → Reading and set “Front page displays” to “A static page.”
– Select your portfolio page as the “Front page,” and then choose another page as the “Posts page,” (to display your blog posts).By default, page title and content will appear. You can hide them if you prefer by going to Appearance → Customize → Theme Options and check “Hide title and content on Portfolio Page Template” option.
Let us know if you need any help with it.

Hello,
I was having a similar issue with Illustratr. I was able to figure out the Portfolio part successfully and created a new page as a Posts page. How do I have the Blog show up in the Top Nav bar and have my posts show up under it?
Thanks!

Hi maureenanderson2014 – is this the site you’re referring to? http://mandersoncopy.wordpress.com/
It looks like you figured out how to add your Blog to the menu. Did you still need help with anything or are you set?

Hi,
If you would like a Portfolio page, then you need to create a page and assign the ‘Portfolio Page Template’ as an attribute. This says that the page is that type and uses a special template just for that page.
You can find out more about assigning a template to a page here:

Why is it no longer possible to set page attributes?
The module has been removed from the page editor screen…
I’m trying to set the order of my pages and create pages with the portfolio template.
Are you no longer allow to do this? -
The module has been removed from the page editor screen…
Found the solution. For some reason my screen options had changed.
Now able to use page attributes again. -
Hello everyone,
I have encountered two main problems building up my page:
(1)
I’m using Illustratr theme set on ‘static page’ and I would like to change the white page that comes with it (that is the one surrounding the header, the pages menu and the portfolio) with a customized image but I can’t find a way to do that either in the ‘customize’ options menu or in the dashboard.(2)
When clicking on any of my portfolio’s projects on the landing page, WordPress opens the content in a new window; this is a preview page before the viewer will be sent to a full size image gallery. In the preview window all the images uploaded appear to be untidily scattered as it seems that, due to their different sizes, Illustratr is not able to re-size the thumbnails in to tidily organized rows (as it does it in the Dashboard>Portfolio>EDIT GALLERY section).
As, of course, I can’t re-size or crop the original images for the sake of having a nicer preview page:
Is there a way to organize or skip this untidy preview? Thanks a lot for your help!
Luca

Hello,
Can someone please help me with uploading media? When I try to add a new projects, I upload a PDF and select “Image” under the format section on the right. However, only the title of the project displays. I would like the images to show up on the front page of my portfolio. Right now, it is just a collection of titles and not at all visually appealing. How can I fix this? Please help!

But i don’t see where the “Portfolio projects” is located?
