Illustratr: How to disable fade animation from portfolio?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I quite dislike that the “site-content” of my blog waits until everything is loaded to fade in.

How can I disable this in the Illustratr theme?

    Thank you.

    Hi @carlosleituga,

I’m sorry you dislike the effect! Unfortunately, in this case, there’s nothing CSS modification can do to change the way the page loads. I am not a theme developer here at WordPress.com, though, so there may be other options you have that I’m not aware of. I’ll step aside to let others speak to that.

The reason why CSS modification can’t change the effect is that CSS is the design language for how a website looks. Although CSS can handle animations, it can’t in this case. To personify code, CSS styles aren’t aware of what’s loading around it. It can fade things in and out, but it will do it as soon as the page loads and be finished. Javascript can be aware of what’s happening in other elements on the page and run scripts when those events happen. In this case, once the portfolio content loads, Javascript fades it into the page.

To change this behavior, one has to modify the Javascript of the theme, not the CSS. That’s unfortunately out of the scope of options one has to customize their site.

    Best,
    Jesse

I didn’t clarify this before. You may have an option to disable this if you’re on the Business Plan (based on more information on the page I linked above). I’m not certain, but I’m happy to look into it if that’s what plan you have.
