Illustratr portfolio help

  Hello,

  I’m trying to use the Illustratr theme to make a grid of my portfolio, like the theme demo. In searching for how to do this, I found the following:

  Portfolio Page Template

  This template will display your portfolio and allow you to set your portfolio as your site’s home page.

  When you first activate Illustratr, your posts will display in a traditional blog format. If you would like to show your portfolio projects on the front page of your site (like Illustratr‘s demo site), just follow these instructions:
  1.Create or edit a page, and assign it to the “Portfolio Page Template” from the “Page Attributes” module.

  Could someone please explain this to me? I don’t know what ‘assign it to the portfolio page template’ means. Also, when it says ‘create a page,’ does that mean creating a post?

  Some themes, including Illustratr, have various templates to choose from for static pages. The page template menu will appear in the Page Attributes module of a static page editor.

  Also, when it says ‘create a page,’ does that mean creating a post?

  No. It refers to a creating static page. See the Post vs. Page support page.
