Illustratr theme – how to place blog posts under a page and not under default

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello, with the Illustratr theme, how do I place my blog posts under a page and not under default home page?

In the instructions (Go to Settings → Reading and set “Front page displays” to “A static page.” Select your portfolio page as the “Front page,” and then choose another page as the “Posts page,” (to display your blog posts).), it says I can then choose another page as the “Posts page,” (to display your blog posts). Can someone help to clarify how to do that?

For example, in Jonny Evans’ (http://jonnyevansdesign.com), his blog can be placed under the menu under the ‘blog’ page.

Would appreciate the help. Thank you!

    Hi there,

I see you want set a static front page for Home and Blog page to display posts.
This can be achieved by following instructions:
    – Create new page for Home
    – Go to My Sites > Themes > Customise > Static Front Page
    – Select A static page radio button
    – From Front page dropdown select the homepage
    – Select Blog page from Posts page dropdown
    – Click Save&Publish

This will list all your blog posts under Blog menu and you can have a static page for Home menu

Follow this tutorial for better understanding

    Hope this helps!

    @thealienregistry,

For example, in Jonny Evans’ (http://jonnyevansdesign.com), his blog can be placed under the menu under the ‘blog’ page.

Once you’ve set a static front page and assigned another page as the posts page as described by @krutigade above, or in the Set a Static “Home” Page (Front Page) support page, if you want a link to the blog page to appear in the custom menu then you’ll have to add it. This can be done as described in the Add menu items section of the Custom Menus support page.

Same with regard to the static front page.
