I'm a noob, help!

I’ve never worked with wordpress before, but I’ve been asked to add a video to my works page. I apologize in advance for my lack of proper vocabulary.
I wanted to use a video as a featured image on our homepage. From what I can tell, our homepage is not static and uses a blog post as a header and featured image. I’ve downloaded a plugin called Feature Video Plus and set it up the way this websites suggests: https://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/tips-tricks/how-to-add-featured-videos-to-your-wordpress-posts-and-pages I’ve gone to the post where I think the front page is taking information from and have played with it to no end, but the video doesn’t pop up at all. I’ve previously tried to turn the image into a carousal and have failed at that as well. I guess these plug ins I’m downloading don’t work for blog posts, or the theme we’re using isn’t set up to work that way (it’s Foxy btw). Any ideas?
